4 Minutes of AI & Automation
What to expect:

Before we start…
Remember that this is actually a real deployed custom automation.
These aren’t just words, there’s actually a bot taking our news, updates, and knowledge and turning it into what you’re about to read.
Life before the automation
The best way to explain the transformation here is to go back to what life was like before the automation.
Every Friday we had an hour long meeting titled “PressW Learns!”
The main goal of the exercise was to keep up with the speed of the AI industry.
Even just 4 months ago, you could find us sitting in that hour long session.. scrolling, giggling, but most of all prioritizing learning.
We would all scroll Twitter and blogs for new information.
That information would go into documents (essentially just long lists of links).
Did anyone ever read those docs?
I couldn’t really tell you.
What I can say is the new version of PressW Learns! is 10x better.
One monday morning email
From summarizing unique headlines to organizing random links into digestible information.
Everything comes from slack channels and our team copying and pasting links and useful information to get AI’d on.
Today I can’t remember exactly how the weekly meeting lost it’s place but I know what came out of it.
Bryson, our Head of AI, is the creator of the PressW Learns! tool.
At the time of it’s creation he simply wanted learning to stay a priority.
So that’s what happened.
PressW Learns! is hands down one of the most useful education automations we have.
What was the actual problem?
Our team needed to keep track of so much information.
The world of AI is unfolding so fast it’s hard to keep up with.
Discussions and developments become difficult to stay on top of.
We needed a way to summarize learnings and record them.
First links would just get lost in slack and then the endless abyss of our Notion workspace.
Bryson knew it was time for a real solution.
Imagine this:
You are digging into Twitter, blogs, and other resources for new information, ground breaking news, unique use cases, and random learnings for inspiration, ideas, and added knowledge.
Now you take those links and spread them across a document with small summaries to explain the two-line link you just pasted into notion.
By the end you paste 2-7 links.
Now multiply that by 5 people every friday and sometimes randomly throughout the week.
Yeah that’s a lot of links.
But still, the auto-newsletter was able to take that and turn it into this
|
Takes members of our team’s individual learnings as input in the version of links from slack
Takes the input over a week as the information for each Monday morning email
Summarizes the information into high level topics, headlines, and descriptions
This takes our goal of prioritizing learning and automates it.
And a whole new experience of sharing our learnings.
We can just send what we want the team to see to our auto-newsletter knowing it will spit it back out more interesting than we could.
This is the power of automation at work.
Taking a workflow that needed man power to live on and replacing it with an automation that lives on without the man.
For us it meant bye bye to those Friday meetings.
For you, imagine the things you can automate that are equally unique to our auto-newsletter.
Think of workflows involving:
Document generation, review, and comparison
Data extraction
Conversation
Here’s one more of those Monday morning emails:
